Packing Light for a Two-Week Trip
Most overpacking comes from planning for a version of the trip that doesn't actually happen — the black-tie dinner that never gets booked, the five-mile hike that stays a maybe. Two weeks, one carry-on, is genuinely possible once you stop packing for hypotheticals.
The math that actually works
Five tops, two bottoms, one layer, one pair of shoes beyond what you're wearing. That combination gives you more outfit combinations than you'd think, and it's laundry-day-compatible almost anywhere you're staying for more than two nights.
What earns a spot in the bag
Anything that does at least two jobs. A scarf that works as a blanket on a long flight and a modesty layer for a temple visit. Shoes that go from a city sidewalk to a moderate trail without needing a second pair.
What almost never gets used
The "just in case" outfit. The extra pair of shoes for a scenario that's statistically unlikely. A full-size toiletry bag when travel sizes exist and get replenished cheaply almost anywhere. If you haven't worn it in the last two trips, it's the first thing to leave home this time.
